Junior Band Coaching

We have three tutors currently on staff that have great experience in the rock band scene, who will run the 60 minute Band practices on a weekly basis. They will occur during some lunchtimes, and after school, depending on the availability of the tutors. The tutors will teach the band songs and work on both performance and stagecraft. The boys will learn to practice effectively as a band, create a ‘tight’ sound and have the opportunity to perform at the end of each term at junior assemblies as well as the HIBS Battle of the Bands (this would also prepare them for Smokefree Rockquest as they progress as a band).

Spaces are limited; selection is based on the following criteria

• Students being matched with others of appropriate skill level and musical influences
• Being available to make a band rehearsal time with students of the same skill level
• Student who currently take lessons with HIBS tutors

So that we can group players into appropriate skill levels, we have asked for boys to indicate what level they think they are at. It is important that they are quite realistic about their current ability, as they will find it frustrating to be grouped up with others who are not at their level. 

These are some examples that are indicative of the levels we would expect for guitar and bass guitar players.
