Lessons

In the event of there being a waiting list for an instrument, student selection for music lessons is based on the following criteria:
  1. Music Elective students at Years 10-13
  2. Students who are regularly involved in co-curricular activities at school
  3. Those who have been on the waiting list from the previous year
  4. Senior students who show potential in music
  5. Junior students who show potential in music
It is recommended that students continue with an instrument for at least two terms as progress is monitored by the HOD and parents/guardians will receive a written report from the Tutor with their son’s academic report.  As there is a high demand for most instruments, full attendance is important.  Three unexplained absences may result in lessons being terminated and the time slot being allocated to someone on the waiting list.  Late payment may also result in lessons being forfeited.

Lesson structure

Each ½ hour lesson will include the following:

1. Technical instruction
2. Appropriate repertoire for the level of instruction
3. Fundamental music theory

All students involved in music tuition will be assessed using a grading system. These grades will be reported on at the end of term 2 and 4.
